The ULB, ULiège and KULeuven are organizing a conference on 24 and 25 October at the Royal Academy of Belgium on Public opinion and forms of mobilization concerning asylum seekers and refugees in anti-immigrant times. Global challenges and local solutions.
On Thursday 24 October, Belgian and European researchers will discuss their researches on local mobilizations, public opinion and policies concerning asylum seekers in Europe. The research book "The refugee reception crisis in Europe. Polarized opinions and mobilizations" (PUMOMIG - BELSPO), will be presented during the conference.
On Friday 25 October, the conference will consist of three roundtables gathering various local, national and European actors involved in the reception of asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. Participants will include local politicians, policy makers, EU actors, NGOs, Civil Society Organizations and other field actors. The aim is to discuss the interaction between different levels of governance, to highlight the role of local governments, organizations and actors, and to discuss localized solutions to the reception and integration of asylum seekers in contemporary Europe.
