Mijail Figueroa González

Bio

Mijail holds a PhD in Sociology (2019) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Since november 2019 he is a post-doctoral researcher at the Group for Research on Ethnic Relations, Migration & Equality (GERME). He works in the project NEWCOMERS (AMIF) analysing how the socioeconomic careers of immigrants in Belgium are shaped by reason of stay and individual characteristics.


Before joining GERME, he was a guest researcher at the Free University of Amsterdam and participated in the research group Social Inequality in the Life Course (2018-2019). Previously he was also a visiting researcher at the Centre for International Research on Educaton Systems (CIRES) of the Victoria University (Australia, 2018), and at the Institut de Recherche en éducation: Sociologie et Economie de l'Éducation (IREDU) of the University of Burgundy (France, 2017).

Domaines d'intérêt

Social inequalities, social stratification, labor market participation, longitudinal analysis, sequence analysis.
